About Us

Creek Path is an old name in our area. In the 1700's, the Cherokees called their settlement in this area by that name. In the early 1800's, the same name was used for a mission among the Cherokees sponsored      co-operatively by several denominations. When our church was formed in 1970, its founders took this name.

On November 15, 1970, Creek Path Baptist Mission held its first service in a building, formerly known as the Sorter Motor Company, which was located across the street from the old Guntersville Hospital. There were 49 people in attendance on that day. In the next few months, the Mission relocated several times before coming to its present location at the corner of Browns Valley Road and Hghway 79 South. The Mission was constituted as a church on September 17, 1971. The original building was completed in January of 1972. Its first full-time Pastor came that year as well.  The church added a new sanctuary to its original building in 1979. The old sanctuary was converted into a fellowship hall and Sunday School rooms. In March of 1988, a two story education building was completed to add much needed space. In April of 1992, the sactuary was expanded to accommodate our growing numbers.

In April of 2006, a two story multi-purpose building was dedicated for needed growth. The addition added several Sunday School rooms, choir room, an upstairs youth facility and a large fellowship and recreational area.

Today, we honor that history and seek to be a church that sees "Christ 4 All" (2 Corinthians 5:14-15). As a CREEK carries water to a larger body of water, we desire to be used by the Lord to bring people to the river of life, Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20). We also desire to be a PATH to a deeper relationship with God and His people (Matthew 22:37-40). It is our hope that this will lead us to greater acts of ministry in the world we live!

So, come join us at Creek Path Baptist Church where it's not about a religion but it's about a relationship. A relationship with the Father by faith, a relationship with each other as brothers and sisters in Christ, and a relationship with the world by developing friendships in order to share our faith.
